Night skies over the Ports
From the house

01 — The plan
Very little light for miles around. On a clear night the Milky Way reaches the horizon.
Time needed
Two hours after dark
Best time
New moon, May to September
Good for
Couples, families
Drive ten minutes up the Beceite road, switch off the engine and let your eyes adjust. From May to September the Milky Way rises over the mountains after midnight.

With an astronomer
On new-moon weekends we sometimes go out with a local astronomer and a telescope. In an hour and a half you see Saturn’s rings, a couple of star clusters and, if you are lucky, a satellite crossing the sky.
What to bring
Ask at reception for blankets and a flask. Wear something warm even in August, keep your phone in your pocket and give your eyes twenty minutes in the dark.
Plan it with us
We lend bikes, pack a picnic and book guides. Ask the night before and it’s ready when you wake up.
Bikes and helmets, free for guests
Picnic from the kitchen, €14 per person
Maps and routes printed at reception
02 — Getting there
How to get there
10 minutes up the Beceite road to the lay-by. On astronomer nights we drive you up.
